Enhance Power Efficiency!
The CC CapPack is a valuable addition to all brushless motor applications, providing that extra boost needed to overcome voltage ripples caused by hard acceleration or lengthy battery wires. Ripple voltage can strain an ESC, but the CC CapPack reduces the load on the controller's on-board capacitors. This specific CapPack utilizes four 560µF, 35V capacitors, totaling 2240µF, which enhances its ripple-reducing capabilities. It is compatible with LiPo batteries up to 8 cells. For batteries exceeding 8s (35V), the 880µF, 50V CapPack is required.
Helicopters:
The CC CapPack is highly recommended for all 500 class and smaller heli applications where Y harnesses and long wires can lead to voltage drop, and demanding collective pulls can strain even the most powerful batteries.
Surface Vehicles:
RC cars and trucks, with their high torque requirements, place significant demands on brushless power systems. Going from 0 to 100% throttle isn't easy on controllers or batteries. In high-performance applications such as drag racing and high-speed runs, using CC CapPacks helps your system power through the demanding abuse.
Fixed-Wing Aircraft:
Larger electric power systems often result in larger electric-powered aircraft, where the distance between the battery pack and the ESC may exceed the length of the pre-installed wires. The addition of wire introduces inductance, potentially increasing ripple voltage. The CC CapPack effectively mitigates the ripple caused by adding up to 12 inches of wire length to the battery.
Note: All Castle controllers with data logging capabilities can report the encountered ripple voltage during operation. Ripple voltage peaks should always be below 10% of the total pack voltage, with lower ripple voltage being preferable. If an application exhibits more than 10% ripple voltage under peak loads, consider using batteries with higher discharge (C Rating), shorter wires, higher current connectors, optimizing gearing, or reducing the load.
Multiple CapPacks can be used in an application, and it is advisable to install them as close to the ESC as possible to maximize their effectiveness.
